Saturday September 15, Sandfly Hall: We provided the music for a bush dance to aid the Huon Environment Centre.

On Friday 17 August about 15 members of the band entertained guests at Brookfield Winery, Margate.

On 21 July we played the music and called the dancing at a phenomenal 4 x 75 birthday party. In between times we feasted on spit roasts and salads.

The HOT String Band and lots of friends helped out by providing music and dance calling at the Simple Folk festival at Koonya on the scenic Tasman Peninsula.

On April Fools Day we helped out at the Strung Out Festival at Longford. This was part of the prestigious “10 Days on the Island” festival so we wore our best clothes. We even played in front of the Governor!

On 17 March we played at Bream Creek, one of Tasmania’s iconic country shows. As usual, we stole the show!

We also played at the Bothwell International Highland Spin-In.

Early in the year, the HOT String Band played at the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart! We really enjoyed ourselves!

Saturday 26th May:  The Hillbilly Hoedown with the HOT String Band. We provided the music and atmosphere for contra, square and country dancing. (In conjunction with the Folk Federation of Tasmania ).

Saturday 22- Sunday 23 September, Evandale: The nOtional Windjam (A Folk Federation of Tasmania event).  Fred and Stuart have organised this informal musical get-together who can’t wait for the biennial National Windjam 2008. Lovers of concertina, melodeon, mouth organ, jaw harp, musical saw or gum leaf should be there. Many Hot String Band members jammed and played in blackboard concerts at the Clarendon Arms Hotel. Friday 28 September, Tasmania Inn, Hobart: We stunned the regulars and others with yet another cultural frenzy of the highest order.We’ve been asked to come back!

Saturday 6 October, Melville St Hall, fund raiser dance for the Greens: They were green with envy at our dazzling performance, and danced the night away!

Sunday 21 October, Ross: Landcare Awards.  The band played, they sang and danced!!

Saturday November 3, Brookfield Winery, Margate: We helped  raise funds Relay for Life.   As usual, we played, they danced, sang and were generally amazed!

Sunday November 4: We played at the Glenorchy Lions Regatta at Montrose Bay. A great time was had by all.

November 24, 25, Music Workshop, Contra Dance and workshop, Wesley Hall, Melville Street, Hobart: Along with interstate guest artist Rob Mahony, band leader for the Canberra Contra Club, we played for a Contra Dance and also helped out with music and dance workshops.
