As always we enjoyed playing at the All Saints Christmas Market on Macquarie Street, Hobart. This year it was lovely and sunny, but a touch of frisky wind meant that the double bass had to be tied to the marquee during breaks.

We enjoyed playing tunes for the gathering crowds waiting for the annual Hobart City Christmas Pageant to arrive. What a wonderful parade it was!
The Hobart Old Time String Band plays alongside the Salamanca Market in Hobart for a few hours on Saturdays whenever the weather is kind and we are available. On this occasion there was fencing around the area where we usually set up; we were assured it was to keep people off new grass, rather than keeping us under control!

We have just recorded a new album which we’ve put on USB drives rather than CDs for the first time. And here is a photo of the first USB album being purchased, at our Salamanca Market jam session.

The Hobart Old Time String Band fit right into the Bream Creek Show playing next to some chickens who we hope enjoyed the “Chicken Dance”. Definitely some non-chickens did! We admit to becoming a bit distracted when the woodchopping started because it is so engaging to watch, but presumably that meant that nobody noticed a few missed notes because they were distracted too.

The briny breeze blustered and the sea shantied as the band swabbed the decks with some toe-tapping tunes at the Australian Wooden Boat Festival. There’s lots to see at the festival on Hobart’s waterfront and there was a wonderful atmosphere with lots of people of all ages wandering about enjoying the day.
