Held in the Cambridge hall, we were invited to play at young Marni’s 50th birthday bush dance that was called by our band member David W (who just happens to love singing Battle of New Orleans and playing his uke as well).
Organised by the local Council, the event was held in Rokeby and the band shared the music stages with other performers … what’s with the short-legged fiddler in the bottom photo? 🙂
For the umpteenth year we were invited back to pleasure the cows with our music … and the crowd loved us too! We got down and dusty outside the animal nursery and later performed on the stage. It was a lovely warm day and a great time was had. We even captured a passerby providing an unsolicited rave review … “aren’t they great, I’ve got to find out who they are” … on video (watch this space) and she did not belong to one of us either 🙂
For the occasion of the celebration of the 70th birthday of an esteemed member (aka Gail) of the Hobart Real (aka Royal) Tennis Club, we humbly accepted this invite and dressed up in the appropriate garb to match the nautical theme. Our music delighted the guests who engaged in much fun, singing and impromptu dancing.
Held at the Lauderdale Primary School, this was a community event where we played a selection of our repertoire on stage, and then Terri Young engaged the younger audience with a bush dance to our music.
A great way to start the new year – a weekend at the biggest folk festival in Tasmania! We played for a concert and family bush dance in Loongana Park, and did our customary street performance to delight the passersby … and dodged the rain.
Whew, what a weekend! After the fundraiser at SANDFLY, we went to SANDFORD the next day! And well, our new found Italian fans sure know how to party! A cold call from the birthday girl resulted in us being welcomed as though we were Gianna’s guests for a fun filled afternoon of music, dance … and refreshments! She made sure that family and friends did not sit around for too long, or else they were seconded onto the dance floor.
To help fund raise for ‘Village by Village (Cambodia)’ and ‘Hope for Health (Arnhem Land)’ programs, we again donned our medical outfits for the event, keeping the dancers on the floor!
We shared this annual event with the Reggie Button Sidestepper’s (aka Ross Smithard and friends?) with odd-socks David Wanless keeping the dancers well and truly up to speed.
Another of our annual gigs, we battled the elements to entertain the crowd at the All Saints Church Daffodil festival in South Hobart. One of the perks was the complimentary wine (thanks to Owen – but next time can we have it mulled, not chilled!)
